In the Vineyard
The grapes are from trellis vineyards planted in an east west direction. Handpicked grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness at 23°B sugar and acids above 5.6g/l.
In the Cellar
Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks and ferments at 20 - 25°C. Juice was pumped over the skins every 2 – 4 hours for 8 days. After alcoholic fermentation the wine went through malolactic fermentation.
Tasting Notes
A deep ruby colour wine with dark garnet rim. Toast and dark berry on the nose with hints of wild herbs and savory notes. The palate is well structured with clove and cinnamon flavours and it will leave a lingering and spicy taste on your palate. Due to the 12 months in the French oak, you will experience soft tannins and an all-round pleasant wine.
Food suggestions
Roast Chicken or Duck, Lamb chops, Freshly caught game fish and a hearty winter bean soup. Grilled beef or lamb, sausages or kebabs and traditional boerewors.
